New Moon in Libra and Diwali: Beauty, Art and Right Relationship and The Festival of Lights
What happens when a festival of lights and a Libra new moon arrive together? We step into a rare window where cultural ritual and celestial timing ask us to design our lives as art. We light the inner lamp, reset our relational scales, and choose beauty not as decoration, but as a disciplined way of leading with grace.
We open with Diwali’s simple, profound promise: light dispels darkness, truth heals confusion, love steadies fear. From cleansing rooms to lighting lamps, we show how rituals become practical alignments that change how we create, relate, and rest. Then we lean into Libra’s invitation to recalibrate: giving and receiving, action and being, creation and restoration. It’s not about making everything equal; it’s about right placement so energy flows cleanly. You’ll hear reflective prompts to set intentions you can actually live, and practices that turn your home, calendar, and conversations into a coherent canvas.
A surprising encounter with two wild turkeys brings the teaching down to earth. Drawing on Indigenous wisdom, we explore Turkey medicine as a mirror for abundance and gratitude, the giveaway principle, and relational harmony. The pair underscores partnership and mutual nourishment—a reminder that alignment is relational, not just internal. By weaving Diwali’s light, Libra’s balance, and the turkeys’ message, we outline a grounded path: cleanse what dims your radiance, beautify your environments, recalibrate your relationships, and circulate your gifts generously.

Welcome to the True Self-Mastery Podcast. This sacred space is devoted to you, the self-led visionary leader who is here to live as your true self, embody your authentic essence, and consciously create your life, leadership, and legacy from a place of wholeness, alignment, and love. I am your guide, Anne Vandywater. And today we're entering a luminous portal of light, beauty, art, and relational harmony as we explore the convergence of two powerful energies, Diwali, the festival of lights, and the new moon in Libra. Today is October 20th, when we celebrate Diwali, a time of letting the light shine in the world and within. Tomorrow, October 21st, the new moon in Libra initiates, inviting us to reset our inner scales, recalibrate our relationships and our creative expression, and rebirth anew. This is a moment of magic when the cosmic and the cultural align, when you are invited to remember that your life is both the canvas and the masterpiece. Libra, ruled by Venus, whispers the language of beauty, right relationship, artistry, and harmony. Diwali mirrors this with light, ritual, community, and the clear message that light triumphs over darkness and that beauty and truth are always accessible. And this morning I went on a beautiful walk while having a conversation with a dear spiritual brother, and was graced with the surprising appearance of two wild turkeys on my path. And I knew that spirit was speaking, weaving through these threads of meaning and invitation that I'm going to tell you all about. So settle in with a deep breath and allow yourself to open into this field of possibility where you are both artist and leader, both giver and receiver, both light bearer and mirror of beauty. Every new moon is a sacred reset. It's a pause in the rhythm of time. It's a moment to sow the seeds of intention during darkness so that new light may emerge. When the moon renews herself in Libra, there is a special invitation to live as the artist of your life, to infuse everything you do with beauty, to align your inner world so your outer world becomes a reflection of elegance, grace, and right relationship. Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, aesthetics, harmony, and relationship. This sign asks, where in your life are you living in balance between giving and receiving, between action and being, between creation and rest? How are you bringing art into everything you do as a leader, a creator, and a human being? What relationships are aligned, healthy, and benevolent? And which ones may be out of rhythm or in need of recalibration? You are right now an artist of experience. Your home, your heart, your work, your community, these are your canvas. So ask yourself: how can you bring more beauty into your life today? How can you lead with art in mind so that your leadership is not merely functional but luminous? And how can you honor right relationship with yourself, with others, and with the world? The new moon in Libra offers a field of renewal for core relational and creative themes. And balancing the scales doesn't mean everything is equal, it means everything is in right relationship. And when your inner world is aligned, when you treat yourself with the same love and respect you give others, then your outer relationships mirror that. When you allow beauty to be foundational, when you treat your work, your home, your leadership as an art form, then everything becomes a sacred offering. So during this lunar moment, allow yourself to reset. Plant seeds of creativity, connection, and beauty. Release anything that pulls you out of harmony or drains your radiance. And choose the next step that honors your heart, your truth, and your aesthetic. Today we celebrate Diwali, a global festival of light celebrated across many cultures and spiritual traditions. Its essence is simple and profound. Light dispels darkness. Truth overcomes ignorance. Love triumphs over fear. On Diwali, homes are cleansed and decorated. Oil lamps called Dias are lit in rows, symbolizing our inner light shining out into the world. Families come together in celebration, joy, and ritual. There is beauty in form, lights, new clothes, artful expression. But deeper still is the spiritual invitation to welcome the divine light into every corner of your being, to recognize your own inner illumination, to let go of what dims your brilliance. In the spirit of this festival, consider how you can allow your life to become a ceremony of beauty. Cleanse your space and your consciousness of anything that blocks light. Dress yourself in literal clothing, but also in the quality of your presence as a vessel of radiance and share your light with kindness, creativity, service, and presence. And when you light a lamp tonight or a candle tonight, let it be symbolic of your own inner flame. When you decorate, when you gather, when you celebrate, let the aesthetic and the sacred meet. Diwali and Libra both call you into that intersection of artistry and relationship, of light and form. So I had the most amazing experience this morning that I am going to weave into everything that I'm sharing. And it's one of the reasons I share this episode from my heart. This morning I was on a walk while talking on the phone with a dear spiritual brother, and I came upon two wild turkeys, and they stood on the path. They actually came to me and they were gobbling and they were puffing out all of their feathers and they were doing this beautiful dance for me. And in that moment, of course, I paused in awe because I felt recognized, because I felt the field shift, because I sensed an invitation. When I was a religious studies major, I focused on Eastern religions, that's how I know about Diwali, and Native American spirituality. And in Native American spiritual traditions, the wild turkey carries rich medicine and symbolism. Turkey is a symbol of abundance and gratitude, connected deeply to the earth's gifts and the cycle of harvest. It's also associated with the generosity and the giveaway principle, where those who have more share with those having less, recognizing that the whole prospers when the many are supported. And Turkey medicine invites us to recognize what we already have, to lean into sufficiency rather than accumulation, and to honor our relationship with the earth, with community, with the invisible web of existence. And seeing two turkeys together amplifies the message of relationship, the mirror field, partnership and alignment. They appeared not alone, but as a pair, representing harmony and companionship and dual light. So, how does this Turkey medicine connect with Diwali and with the new moon and Libra? Abundance and light. Turkey reminds us of blessing, harvest, sufficiency. And Diwali is about light triumphing, abundance welcoming, and the inner lamp being honored. Beauty and relationship. The Turkey appeared as a pair. Its medicine includes relational dynamics of giving and sharing. And Libra's new moon invites us into balanced, aligned relationships and creative expression of beauty. Right relationship with earth, self, and other. Turkey grounds us. The ritual of Diwali cleanses our space and calls our light forward. And Libra invites inner harmony and outer reflection. So in that walk on the path, the turkeys mirrored the message: you are an artist of relationship, a keeper of light, a vessel of abundance. And they reminded me, and I share this with you, that alignment is not just internal, it's relational. The walk talking with my spiritual brother about spirit and spiritual experience, experiences that we've had, and the turkeys, all invited, right? Relationship, beautified presence, and luminous being. So I invite you now. See where the turkey medicine and message wants you to give generously of your art, your being, your light, your service. See where you might remember that you have enough. See how your relationships, your creative offerings, your inner field all may be stepping into harmony under this portal of the new moon in Libra and Diwali. So here we bring it home. The three threads: the new moon in Libra, Diwali, and the Turkey medicine. We weave them all together into a powerful invitation for you. You are being called to live as a beauty giver, an artist of form and heart, and a steward of aligned, benevolent relationships. On one hand, it's time to cleanse and illuminate and honor your inner flame, and to invite the goddess of abundance and prosperity and beauty into your body, your mind, your heart, your soul as spiritual light, into your home, into your relationships, into your work, into your finances, into your personal development, into your spiritual life, into all areas of your life. And on another hand, this time is all about a reset, a recalibration. Plant your seeds of harmony, beauty, and right relationship with this new moon in Libra. And then through nature's mirror, recognize your abundance, your capacity to give, your relational alignment, the gifts of the turkey medicine. So you might ask yourself, what beauty are you ready to offer the world in this next lunar cycle? What relationships are you ready to align or release so that you're in right relationship with yourself and with other people, places, and things? What abundance are you being invited to receive, not just materially, but spiritually and creatively and relationally? And how can you live your leadership and your legacy as a work of art? Coherent, graceful, and luminous. When you integrate these, you become both the lamp and the gallery. The turkey's presence reminds you you're grounded. The new moon reminds you you are fertile. And the festival of lights reminds you your soul is illuminated. As we close this sacred conversation, take a deep slow breath. Feel your inner scales writing themselves. Sense the light of your heart expanding and touching your relationships, your creative work, your home. Acknowledge the abundance that already lives within you and around you. Today, as we celebrate Diwali, may your home and your inner world glow with clarity, joy, and sacred beauty. Tomorrow, as we enter the new moon in Libra, may you align your heart and your relationships. Set your intentions for artistry and service, and step into the next chapter of your living masterpiece. And remember the wild turkeys, their medicine of abundance, generosity, and relational harmony, walking that path with you, guiding you to right relationships and beautiful being. You are both artist and art, both light and mirror. May your life become the festival, may your presence become the lamp, and may your leadership become the masterpiece the world most needs.
